The Ichcha community joins the effort to rebuild Nepal

Posted by Monika Kumar, co-founder of ichcha on 2nd Jun 2015

One month ago Nepal was hit by a powerful 7.8 Richter scale earthquake leaving many without food and shelter. As

Help Nepal

our friends attempt to rebuild their homes and their lives, aftershocks continue shaking the country.

We recognize the communities in Nepal will continue to need our support as it rebuilds. This includes many that played host to me on my first visit to the majestic Himalayas. We walked, danced, and sang up the Annapurna mountain range and through the villages. The thing that stands out from my adventures is the warmth and generosity of the people I came across. At Ichcha we are eager to help. And we invite our Ichcha community to join the effort.

Over the next two months, 5% of Ichcha sales revenue will be donated to HELP NEPAL efforts.

Help Nepal

HELP NEPAL Network: One Dollar a Month Fund for Nepal is the largest charitable network of Nepalis, run on a fully voluntary basis. They spend every single penny donated directly on the projects undertaken. Till date, they have raised $550,000 in HNN's Earthquake Relief Fund. Every week they provide an update on supplies provided and activities carried out as part of its relief efforts.

Ichcha is a small, social enterprise, with a mission to support the ichcha (or wishes) of communities. And in our small way, our community of conscious consumers will support the communities in Nepal. As you make your purchase in June and July, you will be supporting artisans in India, promoting traditional forms of art, encouraging natural dyes, and contributing to the affected communities in Nepal.

We will keep you apprised of HELP NEPAL’s efforts, as they posts their activities regularly on facebook (as seen in the image).
