Zero Waste Store – Ichcha’s commitment to reducing waste

At Ichcha, sustainability is woven into the very fabric of our brand. Literally. We’re passionate about beautiful, handcrafted textiles, but we’re equally passionate about making sure we leave as little waste behind as possible.

We pride ourselves on being a zero-waste store. From the products we make to how we ship them to your doorstep, we try to minimize waste as much as possible.

How We Try to Be Zero Waste

If you're looking for a zero-waste store near you to shop textiles from, here’s why Ichcha is the right destination:

1.      Products We Make

We believe every scrap of fabric has potential. So instead of tossing leftover materials, we find creative ways to give them new life. We make:

  • Scrunchies out of scrap fabric – Those lovely scraps from our block-printed fabrics? We turn them into vibrant scrunchies that add a pop of color to your hair.
  • Cocktail napkins and Everyday Towels out of leftover fabric – Our leftover fabrics become beautifully printed napkins, perfect for adding a little color to your meals
  • Patch toiletry pouches made from waste + leftover fabric – We gather smaller fabric pieces and patch them together to create unique toiletry pouches. No two are ever quite the same! Always one of a kind.
  • Toiletry bags out of dead stock – We transform “dead stock” (fabric that would otherwise go to waste) into cute little toiletry bags, perfect zero-waste gift
  • Eye masks from fabric scrap – Love eco-friendly eye masks? Rest easy knowing your eye mask is planet-friendly, made from leftover organic cotton fabric.
  • Make Tea Cozy out of leftover fabric – And for those who love a good cup of tea, our tea cozies are crafted from leftover fabrics, bringing warmth and sustainability to your tea time. The little birds on top are also stuffed with tiny scraps!

2. Reuse Shipping Boxes

According to the EPA, Americans toss out over 82 million tons of containers and packaging waste every year (that’s nearly a third of everything we discard) and it ends up in landfills. Too much waste piling up is harming the environment, so whenever possible, we reuse shipping boxes we have on hand, even if they’re from Amazon. We also consolidate and ship products together to minimize packaging.

Beyond looking fancy, waste reduction is crucial at this point in history.

3. No Plastic in Our Retail Orders

We’re proud to say that we don’t use any plastic when packing your retail orders. We rely on paper-based materials to make sure your order arrives safely while being kind to the Earth. This is part of our low-carbon shipping efforts.

4. Reuse Scrap Paper Whenever Possible.

Speaking of reusing items, it’s not just our textiles. We also reuse scrap paper whenever we can. Whether it’s for notes, packing, or other office needs, we try to make every bit of paper count.

Why It Matters

We’re sharing all this because we believe in transparency and in showing you exactly how we’re trying to be sustainable as a zero-waste shop. But we also hope it sparks ideas for you! Maybe you can find ways to reuse materials around your home, whether it’s turning an old shirt into a cleaning rag or repurposing packaging for storage.

Together, these small choices add up.
